"Oh, no!" said the heron. "I can't fly!" "Ha, ha! you can't fly! You can't fly!" teased George. But soon he himself found out that he couldn't fly, either. "Help! I can't fly, either!" he cried. You can't fly, either? repeated George. "No, I can't! Splash! the heron and George both landed in the pond.
When they got out, they noticed a bunch of other frogs, poisonous, red, green, striped, dotted, and all kinds of different kinds of frogs. Soon, the whole pond was filled with frogs. "You can't fly, either?" said George and the heron together. "No! didn't you hear the news? No more frogs can fly anymore!" said a dotted frog. "What?" they said together again. "How did it happen?" asked George. "I don't know," said a striped frog. "Can we fix it?" asked the heron. "I'm afraid not," said the striped frog.
Soon the frogs grew long tongues, and they were sticky at the end, so that they could catch bugs and food when they learned how to use them.
