Lehi Warns the People

Today, we read in first Nephi Chapter 1, verses 11-20 was when it was 600 years before Christ was born.
Most of the people that lived in that time were wicked. Prophets tried to teach them to repent, but the wicked people wouldn't listen. Lehi was one of the prophets in that time, and he wanted the bad people to repent, so he prayed. While he was praying, a pillar of fire appeared. God showed and taught Lehi many things.
When Lehi got home, God gave him a dream that was about Him surrounded by many angels, and they were singing and praising Him. Lehi was also told in his dream that he got a book that told him the future. In the future, Jerusalem was going to be destroyed because of the people that were wicked.

Lehi told all the people that Jerusalem was going to be destroyed. He also told them that Jesus was going to be born. They didn't believe him. They tried to kill Lehi, but the lord protected him (just like Samuel the Lamanite).

I didn't like to have to write the story, but I had to do it, and the book called "Book of Mormon Stories really helped me to do it. It tells you the same thing, just in our words, but in the Book of Mormon, it tells you almost like it's in a different language, because it was before. It also tells you about when Joseph Smith translated the scriptures, too. I didn't have a very good attitude, but now I feel better.

Lehi Leaves Jerusalem
Today I read in 1 Nephi 2:7-22, about when Lehi had been told that he needed to leave Jerusalem, and that he needed to tell the other people in Jerusalem that they needed to leave, too. But they didn't listen.

Lehi told his family about his dream. They packed their tents, food and water, and other things to survive. But they left their riches (gold and silver, and things like that).

Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi were Lehi and Sariah's sons. They camped in a valley near a river after traveling for three days. Lehi prayed and said thank you to God for saving Lehi and his family from being destroyed. He called the river Laman and the valley Lemuel, because he wanted his two sons to be like the river and the valley, continually flowing to God and steadfastly keeping the commandments.
Laman and Lemuel thought it was silly for Lehi to leave their home and their gold and silver. They didn't believe that Jerusalem was going to be destroyed.
Nephi didn't understand the things that Lehi had seen. He prayed and asked if Lehi was doing the right things by leaving all their riches and going into the wilderness. Jesus visited Nephi and told him that Lehi was doing the right things.
Nephi believed that his father had done the right things and didn't rebel like Laman and Lemuel did. Nephi told his brothers what he had done and seen. Laman and Lemuel didn't believe it, but Sam did.

The Lord promised Nephi that he would be blessed because of his faith and that he would become a leader over his  brothers.

The Brass Plates
Today I read about when Lehi told Nephi that he and his brothers needed to go back to Jerusalem to get the brass plates from a man named Laban. The brass plates revealed what Heavenly Father said through the prophets. Laman and Lemuel didn't want to go back to jerusalem. They didn't have faith that the Lord would help them. Nephi knew that the lord would help him and his brothers to get the brass plates from Laban. Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi went back to Jerusalem to get the brass plates. Laman went to Laban and asked him for the brass plates. Laban Was really mad and wouldn't give Laman the brass plates. He wanted to kill Laman, but Laman escaped. He told his brothers what happened. He wanted to give up and go back to their mom and dad, but Nephi said that they couldn't go back without the brass plates. He told them that if they had faith in the Lord, they would be able to get back with the plates. So they returned to their old home and got a bunch of gold and silver to trade for the plates. They showed Laban their riches and asked if he would trade for the brass plates. When Laban saw their riches, he wanted them for himself and threw them out. Laban told his men to kill Nephi and his brothers. They ran into a cave. Laman and Lemuel were angry at Nephi. They beat him and Sam with a stick. An angel appeared and told Laman and Lemuel to stop fighting and that they would be able to get the brass plates. He also told them that Nephi would become a leader over his brothers. Nephi told his brothers that they needed to have faith in the Lord and not be afraid of laban and his men. He encouraged them to go back to Jerusalem. Nephi's brothers hid outside of the city wall while he quietly went toward Laban's house. When he got into the house, he saw a drunk man inside. It was Laban. He found Laban's sword and picked it up. The lord told him to kill, Laban, but he didn't want to. Heavenly Father told Nephi to kill Laban again, so they could get the brass plates. They needed the brass plates so that they could learn the gospel. Nephi obeyed the Lord and killed Laban. Then he put on his clothes and armor. He went into Laban's house and was met by Zoram, Laban's servant. Nephi looked and sounded just like Laban. He told Zoram to give him the brass plates. He then told Zoram to follow him. His brothers saw him coming and thought he was Laban. They were scared. But they stopped when Nephi called to them. Then Zoram found out that he was Nephi and tried to run. But Nephi stopped him and promised him that they wouldn't harm him if he came with them into the wilderness. Zoram agreed. Then Nephi and his brothers (and Zoram) went back to the wilderness. Nephi gave the plates to  Lehi and Sariah. They were happy that their sons were safe. They all rejoiced and thanked God. Lehi read the plates. He read about Adam and Eve and the creation of the world. They contained the words of many prophets. Lehi and Nephi were happy that they were able to be safe and that they could get the  brass plates. They packed up the brass plates up so that they could teach their children the commandments recorded on the plates.

Traveling in the Wilderness
Today, I read about when Jesus wanted Lehi's sons to have wives who would teach them the gospel. He asked Lehi to send his sons back to Jerusalem to get Ishmael's family.
Nephi and his brothers went back to Jerusalem and he told Ishmael what the Lord wanted them to do. Ishmael believed them, and went back into the wilderness with them.
While they were traveling in the wilderness, some of Ishmael's family and Laman and Lemuel were angry and wanted to go back to Jerusalem. Nephi reminded Laman and Lemuel of all the Lord had done for him and told them to have greater faith. They were still angry, but they didn't go back to Jerusalem.
Lehi's sons and Zoram married Ishmael's daughters. The Lord told Lehi to continue his journey, and he found a brass ball called the Liahona outside his tent. It pointed the way to go in the wilderness.
Lehi's family packed their food, seeds, and packed their tents. They traveled in the wilderness for many days, following the Liahona.
Nephi and his brothers used arrows to hunt for food as they went. But then Nephi's bow broke, and his brothers' bows lost their  strength. They couldn't hunt for animals anymore, and so everyone was hungry. Laman and Lemuel were angry.
Nephi made a wooden bow and asked his father where to hunt. Lehi found out where to go with the Liahona , and Nephi found some animals. The Liahona only worked when they were faithful, diligent, and obedient. Nephi soon returned with the animals he had found.
Everyone was happy to get food. They were sorry they were angry, and thanked God for blessing them.
Traveling wasn't easy. At a lot of times the people were hungry, thirsty, and tired. Ishmael died and his daughters were sad. they complained against Lehi.
Laman and Lemuel complained, too. They didn't believe that Nephi had heard from the Lord, and they wanted to kill Lehi and Nephi and go back to Jerusalem.
The Lord spoke to Laman and Lemuel. He told them not to be angry at Lehi and Nephi. Laman and Lemuel repented.
Lehi's family continued the hard journey. God helped them and strengthened them.
Children were born.  Lehi and Sariah had two more sons, named Jacob and Joseph.
They traveled in the wilderness for eight years. They soon arrived at the seashore. They called it Bountiful and they found fruit and honey.

Lehi's Dream
Today I read about when Lehi was telling his family about an important vision he'd had in a dream. It made him happy for Nephi and Sam, but sad for Laman and Lemuel. In his dream, he saw a man in a white robe, who told Lehi to follow him. He followed the man into a dark, dreary wilderness.
After traveling in the darkness for many hours, Lehi prayed for help.
Then he saw a tree with white fruit. Whoever ate it would be happy. Lehi ate the fruit, and it filled him with joy. He wanted his family to eat it, too, because he knew that it would make them happy, too.
Lehi saw a river flowing near the tree. At the end of the river, he saw the rest of his family.
He called to his family to come and taste the fruit. Sam, Nephi, and Sariah ate the fruit, but Laman and Lemuel wouldn't eat the fruit.
Lehi also saw a rod of iron and a straight, narrow path leading to the tree. He also saw a lot of people walking toward the tree. Because of the darkness, some people wandered off the path and became lost. Others held tightly to the rod and made it through the darkness to the tree and tasted the fruit.
People in a large building on the other side of the river made fun of the people who ate the fruit. Some who had eaten the fruit were ashamed and left the tree.
Lehi saw many people in his dream. Some people went to the building and got lost or drowned in the river.

Building the Ship
After Lehi's family had camped by the sea for many days, the Lord spoke to Nephi. He told him to build a ship to carry to the promised land. Nephi didn't know how to make a ship, but Heavenly Father said that he would show him. He showed Nephi where to find metal, so that he could make the tools that he needed. Laman and Lemuel made fun of Nephi for trying to build a ship. They didn't believe that the Lord had shown Nephi how to make a ship. They didn't want to help.
Nephi told Laman and Lemuel to repent and not to be rebellious. He reminded them that they had seen and angel and also told him that God has the power to do anything.
But they were mad at Nephi and wanted to throw him into the sea. But as they came close, he commanded them not to come close to him because he had the power of God. They were afraid for many days.
Then the Lord told Nephi to touch Laman and Lemuel. When he did, the Lord shocked them. Laman and Lemuel then knew that Nephi had the power of the Lord. Nephi told Laman and Lemuel to obey their parents and the Lord. He said that if they did that, they would be blessed.
Laman and Lemuel repented and helped Nephi build the ship. Nephi went to a mountain and prayed for help a lot of times.
The Lord taught them how to build a ship. When Nephi and his brothers had finished building the ship, they knew it was a good ship. Then they thanked God for helping them.

Crossing the Sea
Heavenly Father told Lehi and his family to get on the ship that Nephi and his brothers had made. They loaded it with fruit, meat, honey, and seeds to plant in the promised land. Strong winds blew the ship toward the promised land. Laman, Lemuel, and some of the others started to be wicked. When Nephi told him to stop, they tied him up with ropes.
Because they were being bad, the Liahona stopped working. They didn't know where to steer the ship. A terrible storm started to blow the ship backwards for three days. Lehi told Laman and Lemuel to untie Nephi, but they wouldn't  listen. Lehi and Sariah were so upset that they got sick. Nephi's wife and kids cried. They begged and begged Laman and Lemuel to untie Nephi, but they wouldn't do it. On the fourth day, the storm got worse. The ship started to sink.
Laman and Lemuel knew that God had sent the storm. They were afraid that they would drown.
Finally, they repented and untied Nephi. Even though he had swollen and sore, Nephi didn't complain. Nephi picked up the Liahona, and it was working again. Nephi prayed, and the storm stopped, and the wind stopped blowing.
He steered the ship, and it sailed toward the promised land.

A New Home in the Promised land
The ship that Nephi had made crossed the ocean and stopped at the promised land. The people that were on the ship set up their tents. Then they prepared the soil and planted the seeds they had brought along with them.
As they explored around their new land, they found many kinds of different animals. They also found gold, silver, and copper.
The Lord told Nephi to make metal plates to write on. He wrote about their travels and the words of God. Lehi soon grew old. Before he died, he talked to his sons and asked them to choose the right and keep the commandments and blessed his grand children.
After Lehi died, Laman and Lemuel got very mad at Nephi and wanted to kill him. They didn't want nephi to be a leader over them.
God told Nephi to lead the righteous people into the wilderness. They traveled for a long time, but then they finally stopped at a land that they called Nephi.
The people that obeyed Nephi had obeyed God. They worked hard, and did their best. Nephi taught them how to build with wood and matal, and they built a beautiful temple.
Laman and Lemuel's followers called themselves "Lamanites". They had became dark-skinned people. God cursed them because they were wicked. The Lamanites became lazy and wouldn't work. The people who followed Nephi called themselves "Nephites". The Lamanites hated the Nephites and wanted to kill them. They didn't want Nephi to be a leader over them.
The Lord told Nephi to take the righteous people into the wilderness. They went for many days, but finally stopped at a place that they decided to call Nephi.
The people that followed Nephi obeyed God. Nephi taught them how to build with wood and metal. They worked hard together, and were blessed and also built a beautiful temple.
The people that followed Laman and Lemuel called themselves Lamanites. They turned into dark-skinned people, and God cursed them because they were so wicked. The Lamanites got lazy and wouldn't work.
The people that followed Nephi called themselves Nephites. The Lamanites hated them and wanted to kill them.

Jacob and Sherem
Before Nephi died, he gave the brass plates that he had written on to his younger brother, Jacob. Jacob chose the right. Nephi told Jacob that he needed to write the things that would help the people that read it believe in Jesus Christ.
Nephi gave Jacob power so that he could be a preist in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, and so that he could teach the Nephites what God says. After Nephi died, a lot of the Nephites got wicked. Jacob taught the people that were wicked that they needed to repent of their sins and that they needed to start choosing the right.
A wicked man named Sherem told the people that they shouldn't believe in Jesus Christ. He told the Nephites that Jesus was not going to come. A lot of the people believed him. Jacob told them that Jesus was real, but Sherem wanted to argue with Jacob and convince him that Jesus wasn't real.
Jacob wouldn't believe that there was not going to be a Christ. He had seen angels, and even heard the Lord's voice. He knew that Jesus was going to come.
When he bore his testimony of Jesus Christ to Sherem, the spirit was with him.
But Sherem wouldn't believe unless he could see a sign that Jesus was real. But Jacob wouldn't ask Heavenly father for a sign. He said that Sherem already knew that Jesus was real.
But he said if God struck Sherem, that would be a sign that God was real. Sherem fell down right when Jacob said that. He couldn't get up for a long time.
Sherem was weak and knew that he was going to die. He called the people together. Then he told them that he had lied and that they should believe in Jesus Christ. After he finished talking to the people, he died.
The people that had believed what Sherem believed, they felt God's power, too, and fell to the ground.
Then they repented and started to read the scriptures. Jacob was happy and knew that Heavenly Father had answered his prayers.

Enos
Jacob had a son named Enos. Enos kept the brass plates and wrote on them when Jacob died.
One day, Enos was hunting in the forest. He thought about the Lord's teachings and wanted to be forgiven for his sins.
Enos knelt down and prayed to God. He didn't stop praying until a day and a night passed.
Heavenly Father told him that because he had faith in God, his sins were forgiven. But Enos also wanted Heavenly Father to bless the Nephites. He prayed for them, and He said that they would be blessed if they obeyed the commandments. Enos also wanted Heavenly Father to bless the Lamanites. Even though they were wicked, he prayed that they would turn into righteous people. He also prayed that the records that he had kept would be safe and that someday he would be able to teach the Lamanites the teachings that were on the records.
Enos preached to the Nephites. He wanted them to believe in Heavenly Father and keep the commandments. The Nephites tried to teach the gospel to the Lamanites, but they wouldn't listen. They hated the Nephites.
Enos spent his life teaching people about the gospel and he served and loved God all his days.

King Benjamin
King Benjamin was a righteous king of the Nephites. With other righteous people, he brought peace to the land.
King Benjamin soon got old and wanted to talk to his people, so he climbed up a tower with his son, Mosiah, would be the next king. He told his people that he had tried as hard as he could to serve them and that the way to serve God was to serve others. He also said that if they faithfully obeyed God's commandments, they would be able to live with Heavenly Father in heaven again.
He also said that Jesus would be born, and his mother's name would be Mary. Jesus would make miracles happen, like healing the sick, bringing the dead back to life, making the deaf hear, and the blind see. He would also suffer because of all the people's sins. The people that repent for their sins and have faith in Jesus Christ would be forgiven for their sins.
King Benjamin also told the people that the wicked people would crucify Jesus. But after three days, he would be resurrected.

After King Benjamin was done talking to the Nephites, they fell to the ground, and wanted to repent and be forgiven because of their sins. They had faith in Jesus Christ and were forgiven. They felt peace and joy. He also told them to be humble, and to pray every day, and that the parents shouldn't let their children fight or argue. Instead, they should teach their children to be obedient and to serve and love others.
He warned the people to be careful of what they said, did, and thought. They were supposed to be faithful and keep the commandments for the rest of their lives.
He also asked his people if they believed his teachings, and they all said that they did. They all promised to follow God' s commandments and King Benjamin was happy. He gave the right to be the king to his son, Mosiah. He was a righteous king, and he served others, as his father did.

Zeniff
Zeniff and a big group of Nephites went to where Nephi lived, and that was where other Nephites used to live. When they got there, they found Lamanites living there. Zeniff and four of his people went to talk to the king of the Lamanites and they asked if they could live in the land of the Lamanites.
He said that they could have two of his cities. King Laman wanted them to live in his land, so that he could make them his slaves. All of Zeniff's people built houses and walls around their cities.
They planted grain, fruit, and put in their animals.

King Laman told his people that the Nephites were getting to be too powerful, so a lot of Lamanites went to steal their animals and food.
Zeniff and his men went to tell the Nepites that the Lamanites wanted to kill them, and they got ready to battle the lamanites.
But before they went, they prayed and asked god for help. Heavenly Father gave them extra strength, and they won the battle. They lived in peace for lots of days.

King Laman's son became the king of other Lamanites. God gave the Nephites extra strength again, and they fought off the Lamanites.

Abinadi and King Noah
Zoram soon died and his son, Noah, became king. But he wasn't a good king like all the rest of the kings were. He was a wicked king and made the Nephites give him everything he needed to live because he was lazy. He also had a lot of beautiful things built, even a big palace with a throne inside. The building was decorated with silver, gold, and expensive wood.
Heavenly Father sent a prophet to Noah's people named Abinadi. He warned them that if they didn't repent, they would become the Lamanites' slaves.
When King Noah found out what Abinadi had said to his people, he was angry. Abinadi was taken to Noah.
He told his priests to kill Abinadi, but he said that if they touched him, then God would kill them. Heavenly Father protected Abinadi and let him finish what he was saying to Noah and his wicked priests.
He read the ten commandments to them and told them that Jesus Christ was going to be born and that he would make it so that they could repent, be resurrected, and that they could live with God. He said that they should repent and believe in Jesus Christ, or they wouldn't be saved.
King Noah told his priests to throw Abinadi in prison, and they did.
But one priest-named Alma- believed what Abinadi had said, and he asked King Noah to let Abinadi out of prison. Noah threw Alma out and told his priests to kill Alma. But he went to hide, and they never found him.
After Abinadi had been in prison for three days, he went to King Noah again. He said that Noah's people needed to take back what they had said against him.
Noah said that if he didn't take back what he had said, he would be killed.
Abinadi would rather die than take back what he had said to Noah's people. He knew that he had told the truth.
Noah told his priests to kill Abinadi. Before he died, (by fire) he said that King Noah was going to die by fire, too.
The Nephites were angry at King Noah. They chased him and tried to kill him. The Lamanites also came to fight the king and the people that were following them.
Most of King Noah's people were sorry and wanted to help their wives, children and their people. Noah didn't want them to go back and ordered them to stay. But they were angry. They burned him to death, like Abinadi had said, and they went back to their families.

Alma Teaches and Baptizes
Alma hid for a long time. While he was hiding, he wrote the things that Abinadi had said. Then he repented for all his sins, and went out to teach the Nephites.
He taught them to repent and to believe in Jesus Christ.
Then he hid somewhere else that was close to a pool called the Waters of Mormon. The people that believed the things that Alma had taught went to the Waters of Mormon to be baptized.
He ordained priests to teach repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Everyone was good to each other, but the king said that Alma was making the people against him, so he sent an army to kill them.
Heavenly Father warned the people that the army was coming. He strengthened them so that they could escape. King Noah's army looked everywhere, but couldn't find Alma's people.
Then Alma's people traveled for eight days, and finally found a place to live. They also said that they wanted Alma to be their king, but he said that God wanted them to be free and not have a king.

King Limhi and his people escape
The Lamanites caught the Nephites that didn't escape with King Noah and gave them land, but would make them pay a lot of taxes.
King Limhi was Noah's son, but he wasn't wicked. Limhi wanted to teach the Lamanites the gospel and make peace, but they wouldn't listen.
Outside the city, there were strangers that were Nephites from Zarahemla. Their leader was named Ammon. He could help the Nephites escape from the Lamanites.
King Limhi called his people together and told them that they needed to repent and not be wicked, and that they were captured by the Lamanites because they were wicked.
The Nephites knew that the Lamanites were usually drunk at night, so they gave extra wine to the guards and got past the guards when they were drunk.
Ammon brought King Limhi and his people through the wilderness to Zerehemla, and they were welcomed there.

Alma and His People Escape
When Alma and his people were working in their fields, an army of Lamanites came into their land. The Nephites were afraid, and they went into the city so that they would be safe. Then they prayed.
God made it so that the Lamanites would not hurt the Nephites, and the Lamanites promised that they wouldn't hurt the Nephites if they showed them how to get back, but they didn't keep their promise.
They put guards around the city, and the Nephites weren't free anymore.
The Lamanites made Amulon the ruler over all of Alma's people. He made them work really hard, and they prayed for help, but Amulon said that if anyone was caught praying, they would be killed. So the people prayed in their hearts. Heavenly Father made it so that their work seemed easier.
He was happy that they were faithful.
During the night, God kept the guards asleep so that Alma's people could escape. When they had traveled for 12 days, they were at King Mosiah's place, where he welcomed them there.

Alma the Younger Repents
King Mosiah made Alma the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Zarahemla and he chose other people to help teach the Nephites. Alma and King Mosiah were worried because people that didn't believe in the Church made Church members suffer because of what they believed. Alma had a son named Alma, too, but Alma the Youger didn't believe the teachings of Alma the Older. Alma  the Younger and the four sons of King Mosiah didn't believe the church and they fought against it. And they talked other people that were members of the Church not to believe and be wicked, like Alma the Younger's people. Alma the Older prayed that Alma the younger would repent. Alma the Yunger and the sons of King Mosiah tried to ruin and destroy the Church. One day an angel came to them. It talked in a loud voice that shook the ground. Alma and King Mosiah's sons were so afraid that they fell down on the ground. At first they didn't understand what the angel was saying. The angel came to answer the prayers of the Church members. The angel asked Alma the Younger why he was fighting against the Church. He also said to stop trying to destroy the Church. Then Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah fell down again. They knew that the power of God was what had made the ground shake. Alma the Younger was so surprised that he couldn't speak. He got so weak that he couldn't even move his hands! The sons of Mosiah carried Alma the Younger to Alma the Older and told him all the things that had happened to them. Alma the Older was happy He knew that God had answered his prayers. Alma called a lot of people together to see what the Lord had done for his son and for the sons of Mosiah. Alma, with other Church leaders, fasted and prayed and asked God to help Alma the Younger become srong again. After two days and two nights, Alma the Younger was able to speak and to move. He told the people he had repented and that God had forgiven him. He taught that everyone must become righteous in oder to go back to live with God again. He also told about all the pain that he had suffered because of his sins. Alma the Younger was happy because he had repented and God had forgiven him. He knew God loved him. Alma the Younger and the sons of King Mosiah began to teach the truth, telling everyone what he had seen and heard. They tried to undo the wrong they had done. They explained the scriptures to the people and taught them about Jesus Christ, their Savior. God blessed Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah as they taught the gospel. Many people listened to them and believed in the gospel.

The Sons of Mosiah Become Missionaries
Mosiah had four sons: Ammon, Aaron, Omner, and HImni. They were with Alma the Younger when an angel came to him. The sons of Mosiah had repented of their sins and were sorry for the trouble they had made happen. THey knew the gospel was true, and they wanted to teach it to others. All of them didn't want to be king. INstead, they wanted to be missionaries to the Lamanites and teach them the blessings of the gospel. King Mosiah asked Heavenly Father if he should let his sons go. God told Modiah to leth them go, and that they would be safe, and that lots of the Lamanites would believe them. Mosiah's sons went to teach the Lamanites. They fasted and prayed that they would be good missionaries.

April 22, 2013
Before King Mosiah died, the Nephites chose judges to lead them. Alma the Younger became the first chief judge. He was also the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ. A man named Nehor started teaching lies to the Nephites. he said everyone would  be saved whether they were good or bad. some of the Nephites believed Nehor. A righteous man named Gideon defended it. Nehor argued with Gideon, but he spoke what God says. Nehor was angry and killed Gideon. Nehor was taken to Alma to be judged. Nehor was afraid. Alma said Nehor was guilty because he had taught the people to be wicked and had killed Gideon. Alma said that Nehor had to be punished for killing Gideon. Nehor was taken to a hill and  was killed. Before he died, though, he said that all he had taught was wrong. But some of the Nephites still believed Nehor's teaching. They loved riches and would not obey God's commandments. They made fun of the Church members and argued and fought with them. The good people continued to obey the commandments and didn't complain when Nehor's followers hurt them. They shared everything they had with the poor, and they helped the sick heal. They obeyed the commandments, and God blessed them.

The Amlicites
Amlici was a wicked man who wanted to be king of the Nephites. He had lots of people who believed what he believed. The Nephites didn't want Amlici to be their king. They knew he wanted to destroy God's Church. The Nephites gathered in groups to decide of Amlici should be their king. Most of the people voted against him, and he didn't get to be king. The Amlicites (what Amlici's followers called themselves) were angry. They left the Nephites and made Amlici their king. Amlici ordered them to fight the Nephites. The righteous Nephites prepared to save themselves with bows and arrows, swords, and other weapons. The Amlicites attacked, and the Nephites, who were led by Alma and strengthened by the Lord, killed most of them. The rest of the Amlicites ran away. Alma sent spies to watch the Amlicites. The spies saw them join a big army of the Lamanites and attack Nephites living by Zarahemla. The Nephites prayed, and God helped them again. They killed most of the soldiers of the Lamanite/Amlicite army. Alma and Amlici fought each other with swords. Alma prayed that his life would be saved, and God gave him th estrength to kill Amlici. The Nephites chased the Lamanites and
amlicites into the wilderness. Most of the hurt died there and were eaten by wild animals. Like the Lamanites, the Amlicites marked themselves with red, which fulfilled a prophecy. The Amlicites had separated themselves from the blessings of the gospel.
