But then he started to worry. What if the babysitter notices and tells my mom and dad? he thought. "I know! he said aloud. "I'll lock myself in the basement! That's what I'll do! But he said it so loud that the babysitter heard him.
"What did you say?" asked the babysitter. "Oh, I was just talking to myself," said Bill. "I know that, but what are you talking about? Did you say you were going to lock yourself somewhere?" she asked.
"Are you mad at me?" asked Bill. "No, not exactly," but what did you say?" "Uh, I-I said that I was going to lock myself in the basement," said Bill. "Why would you do that?" the babysitter asked. "Um, I'll only tell you if you don't tell my parents," Bill said. Well, I'm not sure about that, but I guess I won't tell your parents." "Um, okay." I want a swimming pool," he whispered.
"A what? A swimming pool in your basement? I've never heard of that! Why not just ask your parents for a swimming pool? that would be much easier than having to clean, heat, and way more all by yourself. "And how would you be able to eat and take care of yourself?" "I never thought of that," said Bill. "All I thought of was having a pool."
Soon, Bill's mom and dad came home from the store, he and the babysitter told his parents that he wanted a pool, and his mom and dad said that it would be fine. It was a lot of hard work for them to dig a hole, put the water in, and much more, but he worked hard, and soon they had a big, huge pool, just as he'd imagined. :)
